A civil servant, and a person who is reflecting a very sensitive heart and a smart mind, how it could be possible for him to take his own life. The question is so difficult or impossible to understand, explain, or identify. Such interrogation came into my mind when I went through very sad and heartfelt news that SSP Abrar Hussain Nekokara committed a mysterious suicide on this Monday evening.  Earlier stated question arises in my mind to evaluate some of the reasons for doing a suicide.

A Suicide is in point of fact, a severe action deliberately initiating one’s own loss of life which is having enduring hurtful sound effects on different characters in society as family members, friends and other relatives. Different relations or individuals in community and some social factors may provide the basis for doing a suicide. Considering into Durkheim’s work for this doing can be serious damaging sentiments, as; separation, loneliness, nervousness, apprehension, intolerable discomfort, entering the fatal settings, annoyance or resentment, life-threatening irritation, desperateness, sleep deprivation or over sleeping, thinking or creating suicide plans.

Mostly, it is so hard to imagine what compels a family person, friend, or public figure for doing a suicide. There will be possibly many threatening grounds, and you could be surprised what roots you might have neglected. There can be so many reasons which can lead to a decision to commit this fatal action.

Frequently, it is observed that this action is taken while having too much strong destructive emotions and worries.

Mental and Psychological Disorders

In so many factors, one is mental and psychological disorder which provides grounds to severe depression or risky dejection. In this case, individuals experience extreme sensitive discomfort, agony and hopelessness. They do not see another option to get rid of such things or distress, but they prefer ending their own valuable lives.

Depression can generate so many mental and psychological disorders which can lead to commit a suicide. For example, an individual with a mental illness named as schizophrenia or other disorders that create phobias about hearing voices commanding him to kill himself. Bipolar disorder or manic depression, a mental condition that causes life-threatening mood swings which include profound high and low moods, can also upturn the risk for committing a suicide.

Similarly, a high rate of suicide is noted in another condition that is Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) in which people feel emotions intensely for a long time and for them it is harder to be established after sensitive activating event. Likewise, a high rate of losing the life by suicide is noted in eating disorders which include anorexia and bulimia regarded as low weight, food restriction and fear of gaining weight.

Drug Addiction and Impulsivity

A person whose habit is using drugs and alcohol can be unhappy, hopeless and then suicidal. Such habitual things can make an individual thoughtless and possibly to act upon impulses than to be not too much drunk or intoxicated. Using drugs and alcohol can provide grounds to further causes due to which individuals commit suicide; as losing jobs and breaking relationships. For the people with depression and other psychological problems, excessive substance and alcohol use disorders are increased. So due to drug addiction, risk for committing suicide extends.

Thant phobia or Fear of loss

Thant phobia or fear of loss is a sort of anxiety linked to depression. Due to a loss or fear of loss, one can commit a suicide in different situations, such as; ending an idealistic relationship or friendship, losing a job or doing nothing, incompetent of finding an adequate cradle of sound income, economic problems, bringing up the rear a social esteem, misplacing the happy life due to business failures, academic disappointments, losing societal or domestic acceptance due to sexual orientation, mistreatment, humiliation, cyber victimization, being arrested or imprisoned, etc.

Lack of Hope

In many studies, short-term or long-term state of despair or hopelessness is observed contributing to the planning of suicide. Facing societal or bodily challenges, sometimes loss of hope comes from and a worried person sees no ways of attaining the things improved. While being distressed, he considers a suicide more meaningful option than all good possibilities or the things in life. Intellectuals or individuals free from hopelessness can see that one can get rid of problematic things by following the good ways, but due to pessimism, distress or agony, a distracted person will not be able to see the positive replacements.

Trust in “Life Is a Burden to Others”

An individual with prolonged agony, suffering or a deadly disorder can be felt like a problem to other people, as it is so harder to request for yet another drive to the doctor’s clinic or for more support with domestic responsibilities or help by giving money for doctor’s fee. Actually, so many individuals who choose to initiate ending their lives write or state before death that their esteemed ones would be more prosperous without them. This sort of speech is a very common caution for suicide as due to the emotional and severe feelings, so many sensitive individuals feel themselves worthless and as a burden to the society.

Societal Separation

Many people face social separation for different reasons.  Social isolation or social separation can cause for committing a suicide. Social separation can be due to losing friends or a partner, experiencing a split-up or break up, bodily or psychological disorders, social apprehensions, or due to moving to a new setting. Societal separation can be happened by inner factors such as low self-image which can lead to solitude, depression and drug use.

Shouting for Help

On different occasions, individuals attempt to do a suicide because they want to die, and they don’t know how to get assistance to get rid of this negative act. Suicide tries are not a shout for getting help, but they make the people crying. Such attempts or tires are hurting and not a cry for help. Unluckily, these tries may sometimes get proven to be disastrous if a person underestimates the lethality of selected suicide mode. People who are once failed in suicidal attempts are at considerable greater danger of suicidal attempts again and their second tries are much more expected to be harmful.

Unintentional Suicide

There are certain state of affairs where what seems to be a suicide is in fact a by chance death. The risky “choking game” where teenagers try to choke themselves in order to feel a high, as well as autoerotic asphyxiation, are examples where individuals are intentionally induced (as by overpowering or crushing oneself). Unintentional suicides can also include administering poison, overeats, and weaponry deaths.

In inference, one should value his life by considering the importance of this blessing of God. In all the stated conditions, one should not go at extreme level. To prevent a suicide, one should start with identifying and recognizing the warning signs and taking them seriously. If you think a colleague or a family member is bearing in mind a suicide, there’s plenty you can look after to help protect a life.  In short, you must offer financial help, moral and psychological support.

Suicide is a serious public health problem that can have lasting harmful effects on individuals, families and community.
